Chicago "L" Train and Loft Postcard
Voted one of the "Seven Wonders of Chicago" by Chicago Tribune readers, the Chicago "L" is a rail system serving the city of Chicago and surrounding suburbs. In operation since 1892, the "L" is the second-oldest rail mass transit system in America and the third busiest while covering over 100 miles of track. Interestingly, the "L" gained its nickname from large parts of the system being elevated. Other portions of the network are in subway tunnels or at grade level.
