Wrought Iron Acanthus Earrings
A wrought-iron grill with a stylized acanthus leaf was the inspiration for these earrings. This grill was made for a neo-classical building in the 1930s, but this ornamental motif has a long history. It was first used by the Greeks in the 5th century BC on roof ornaments at a temple, in-wall friezes, and on the capital of the Corinthian column.
